The Facts
Christmas House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, registered in Washington
state. We provide toys and essentials to low income families, during the
holidays. Established in 1981, Christmas House helps over 2,900
Snohomish County families each year. Christmas House is operated by 100%
volunteer staff, which put their lives on hold to help others at one of the
busiest times of the year. Christmas House is located in Everett, Washington,
in the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County gymnasium.
Christmas House is administered by a Board of Directors and staffed by hundreds of volunteers during the Christmas season.
Recent Statistics
A total of 8,300 infants, youth and teens from 2,900 families received clothing, blankets,
toys and personal items during the recent Christmas House season.
We serve children from families within Snohomish County. The demand for our services is such that we are not able to provide assistance outside of Snohomish County at this time. Within the county, we have served families from 20 cities, plus unincorporated Snohomish County.
History
Christmas House was founded in 1981 by Roy Fraser in his garage. Roy had heard of children in Snohomish County who had not received anything for the prior Christmas and was determined to change that. He established the first annual Christmas House and stocked it primarily with used toys and handmade items, which they refurbished and gave away to families in need. They served more than 100 children the first year. Unfortunately, Roy did not live to see the second Christmas House, but his memory lives on as we now look forward to our 28th Christmas House, Christmas House 2008. The general format of how Christmas House functions has not changed over the years, just the number of families and individual children who benefit from his dream over two decades ago.
